Hikari Martial Arts Gym was founded by a group of friends through their passion in martial arts. The name was chosen to signify the positive energy we wish to grow and retain within our community of students.

Our aim is to create a supportive learning environment for the pursuit of development in martial arts for both adults and children. We aim to foster respect, humility and trust among our students to build overall team improvement and individual growth.

We welcome everyone with different goals to join us. If your goal is fitness driven, being a part of community or competitive training, we have classes to suit your needs.

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu

A grappling-based martial art whose central theme is the skill of controlling a resisting opponent in ways that force him to submit.

Muay Thai

Utilizing punches, elbows, kicks and knees, we teach proven techniques for the competitive arena and self-defense.

Kids Classes

A safe, playful and fun way to teach children Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Boxing & Muay Thai. Helps instill discipline and develop coordination. For ages 4 and above only.

Professor Bruno clearly outlined the learning and stripe/belt-awarding structure which we really appreciated. My son is motivated to come for classes, train and earn his stripes because Professor Bruno trains the kids like they're his own Most importantly, my son feels more comfortable and relaxed at Hikari, as at his previous gym, he felt bullied and roughed around by the older kids who ranked higher in belt and felt the need to show their skills and prowess. Absolutely none of that I'm-bigger-and-better-than-you mentality at Hikari. Plus, Hikari's combination of learn + play is optimal for kids, especially younger ones. Absolutely love the vibes and learning environment at Hikari!

The Muay Thai program is authentic and focuses on proper technique, form and understanding of Muay Thai principles as opposed to a cardio-fitness only emphasis found in (some) other places. Also offers BJJ, Kickboxing & Judo as part of an all-access with very reasonable fees and flexible package options. Go in for a free trial and experience it for yourself. Watch yourself grow amongst a supportive community of like-minded souls.

I am amazed and inspired how the students here work to achieve their goals under the direction of highly trained instructors and not to mention our world champion coach. I’m training here for not more than a year but i’ve already learned a ton. Coaches are patient, teaches thoroughly and will push you with positive remarks. Highly recommended to all age, size and gender. The community is fun and full of good vibes. The facilities are always clean and the space is big enough for you to grow yourself.☺️

Hikari MMA is not only for those who are interested in competing but is highly recommended for people who are looking to be in their best shape and health, at the same time gaining useful skills. The classes are friendly and nutures an environment where everyone supports and builds one another. The training and drills may look the same but Coach Kai will notice the individual strengths and weaknesses of each person, and personalize the focus of the drills to work on the best possible outcome for everyone.
Hikari also offers other martial art lessons such as Judo and Brazillian Jiu-Jitsu, by great coaches who are masters of their art. with an all rounder constructive and healthy environment, highly recommended!

This place is hot as #&@* but the jiujitsu is legit. Each class feels like a mini seminar. The technique of the day is typically explained over 30 minutes or so and the instructors keep a close eye to ensure you're performing it correctly.

There's a good mix of belts here, all sizes and genders. Ranging from casual hobbyists to absolute freaks. This place (thankfully) lacks the old school, chest-thumping, sigma-grindset atmosphere that some academies inherit from the "good ol' days" in Brasil. Everyone is very welcoming and hoping to see you get better. If you roll with respect and consideration, you'll receive it back.
Coaches Cassandra and Journ, along with your teammates, will also push you outside your comfort zone if you express an interest in competing. Was able bag my first gold medal in my time at Hikari. I'm not sure if I would have been able to otherwise. The coaches themselves are also high-level competitors, so they walk the talk.
The facilities are simple but well maintained. There are two separate rooms for Muay Thai and Grappling, as well as two shower rooms. If you don't mind padding your step count a little, there's ample parking along Jalan Telawi/Terasek. If you're boujee, Bangsar Village 2 has parking that typically costs RM6 a pop.

Each class is an exhilarating blend of cardio fitness, strength training, body conditioning and technical drills. The sessions incorporate a wide range of exercises, including shadowboxing, pad work, bag work, partner drills, clinching and sparring (optional for those who wish to participate). Also, the community in Muay Thai class is incredibly welcoming and supportive. Everyone, from fellow students to more experienced fighters, is genuinely supportive and encouraging. The camaraderie developed within the class is truly remarkable and creates a sense of belonging.
